On March 21,1998, the Kokomo Police Department was granted full accredited status by the Commission on Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The department attained this international goal by meeting and exceeding the requirements of 435 standards which cover every aspect of Law Enforcement policies, procedures, practices and operations. An accredited agency sends a strong statement of law enforcement professionalism as well as acceptability to its citizens.
