Mainstage Theatricalcelebrates 20 Years!

Come join in the 2 day festivities as the Midwest Section of USITT joins in the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of Mainstage Theatrical to be held at Cardinal Stritch University.  It will start with a vendor showcase on Friday afternoon, September 14th, and be followed by a day of workshops to be held on Saturday, September 15th.  Check the website for Mainstage Theatrical at www.mainstage.com for updated info.

There is no programming charge for this event.

The Goodman Theatre has offered to open up their new space that day to members of the Midwest Section of USITT.  The tour will be lead by Jeff Muscivan and will be an indepth backstage tour.  The tour is being done by special arrangement with the section, and will be limited to 30 people.  Pre-registration is required for the tour.  Due to the limited number of spaces for the tour, members of the section will be given priority.

• Registration is at 10:45 am
  The tour starts at 11:00 am sharp. It is limited to 30 participants and you need to pre-register with the programming chair Kathleen Donnelly by October 29th.  Cost of tour is $10.00 for members and $5.00 for student members.
        [Non members must pay Midwest Section membership dues in addition to the program fee.]

• Lunch break: 12:45 pm

• Matinee performance at the Goodman Theatre at 2:00 pm
  The Visit, world premiere of musical version of Terrence McNally's play.  Music and lyrics are by Kander and Ebb.  Starring Broadway legends Chita Rivera and John McMartin, and directed by Frank Galati.  USITT Midwest section has reserved tickets for the matinee performance on November 3rd at 2:00 pm.  You must pre-register by phone or e-mail by October 4th to reserve tickets to this performance through Kathleen Donnelly.  Ticket cost is $55.00.

• Directions:
  The Goodman Theatre is located at 170 North Dearborn in the loop. The closest parking garage to the Goodman is Theatre District Self park on the east side of Dearborn, directly across the street from the Goodman.  If you have any questions, you can call the Goodman Theatre Ticket Services staff at (312) 443-3800.  The flyer has directions on it.

Join your friends and colleagues at the only national conference for professionals, educators, and students in the world of theatre technology.  Attend the Midwest Section Annual Meeting which will be held on Thursday morning, February 14th at 8:00 am to find out how to get involved in your Section.  This is an excellent opportunity to meet and talk with fellow members of the Midwest Section and give us feedback about what you would like to see for future events!  Coffee and nosh will be provided.   [Thanks, $crooge!]

The Spring event for the regional section will be held at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Illinois (near St. Louis, MO) on April 13th.  Registration will be at 9:00 am.  [Central Daylight Savings Time]

The morning workshops will include a lighting demo by High End Systems and Design Lab in Chicago.  Opposite that demo will be a makeup demo by Molly McGrath, a makeup artist from Chicago who is the staff makeup artist at Lyric Opera of Chicago, and also works for CBS in Chicago.  She teaches at Roosevelt University.

The afternoon program is a tour of the Fox Theatre in St. Louis.

The fees are standard: Members:$5.00, Student Members: $2.00, Non Members $25.00, Student Non-Members $12.00.  Non member rates include a one year membership to the section.  Sustaining get two free tickets.  You do not need to pre register for this event, however if you think you are going to the makeup demonstration and you are a faculty member, we are trying to get an approximate count so that we can have catalogs from Ben Nye available for you.
