April 26, 2003

In the shadow of the great old theaters on Randolph Street, the Ford Oriental, the Goodman, the Cadillac Palace of Chicago's designated Theatre Row, an amazing effort has been made to provide homes for both a small, established theatre company and a showcase center for small to mid-sized theatre companies.  This program gives members and guests a look at new and thriving additions to Chicago's theatre community.

10:00 AM [Central Daylight Savings Time] Registration and tour start!

The first stop on our tour of two storefront theaters is at the Noble Fool Theatre, located at 16 W. Randolph Street, #2 on the map.  Billed as Chicago's Comedy Theatre, the theater moved into this space in April of 2002 with ths financial assistanceof the State of Illinois and the city of Chicago.  A main stage area, a black box, and a cabaret have been fitted into two floors of street front space that at one time served German food!  The Noble Fool Theatre's artistic director Jimmy Binns, will be our guide.  [See below for performance opportunities!]

11:30 AM CDT

The Gallery 37 Center for the Arts, 66 E. Randolph Street, will be our second stop, #3 on the map.  Theatre Coordinator Vicky James will be our guide for a tour of the Store Front Theater and facility.  "In accordance with the educational and community-based mission of the Center, the Store Front is (a city of Chicago enterprise) committed to presenting performing arts programs that increase public awareness of the performing arts and foster cultural awareness."
