"The time for self-education has never been as critical as now."
My passion is to shift the focus of this publication from the current musical core to an educational base in order to better accommodate the growing needs among American youth. I am my affiliates cannot compete in delivering up-to-date or well-informed musical news. However, this does not mean that our musical aspirations will die or dwindle, only that more time will be spent searching out educational endeavors. The American educational system is failing and the responsibility rests upon individuals to educate themselves. I believe in self-education and want to help others seeking to broaden their own knowledge and understanding.
Our generation is supremely privileged compared to those before us. Communication has been made phenomenally easy with the ability to converse worldwide via the internet. I daresay all of the articles in this zine are, by at least means of submission, somehow related to the internet. Most of the current exposure is due to the website, www.silverstarzine.com. I often forgot how fortunate I am, and we all are.
The time for self-education has never been as critical as now. In our nation, we are only taught what little knowledge those who instruct us have and only in the ultimate goal of placing every person behind a desk for the next 45 years. Change needs to occur now and the only way it can occur is by an informed and understanding generation rises and claims free knowledge for themselves. I want to be a part of that by helping to empower this generation and by helping change to take place.
